A library patron just asked us for help, saying he was a “like a caveman on the computer”. I thought he was exaggerating, until I learned he was trying to access his email account by typing his AOL email address in the URL bar.

Patron: A book I have on reserve was due back yesterday.
Me: OK...I'm sure the person will return it any day now.
Patron: So you don't do anything to speed them up if it's late?
Me: Well, we send them email reminders.
Patron: E-mails? That's it?
Me: We don't really have the budget to send a SWAT team in to retrieve overdue items. Unfortunately.
I’m giving away a Fitbit

If … I get to a thousand followers on Tumblr by January 15, 2011. I figure, since it’s the great New Year’s resolution time, I figure a FitBit might help someone get into a little better shape. It’s also just kind of cool.

For your chance to be the lucky winner, just follow me! Those that reblog this post and like it after following will have three chances to win. But again, remember, I’ve got to hit that magical number of 1,000 followers before the grand prize will be awarded (and if I don’t, I’ll still randomly pick someone for a $25 Amazon or iTunes gift card). I’m at, uhm, 17 followers — so there’s a long way to go.

And if you want to read about my own weight loss adventure, it’s here.
